Have you always wanted to visit the Canary Islands, but are not sure what they are all about? This 11-day/10-night itinerary will allow you to see the best of the Canary Islands with Olivia. Natural beauty is rampant in the Canary Islands, with a diversity that is astounding. Tenerife with its spectacular beaches and soaring Mount Teide. Martian landscapes on Lanzarote. Lush green La Palma. Cloud forest, cliffs and canyons on La Gomera. Then there are the skies in Tenerife, piercing blue by day, and some of the world's darkest and most stargazer-friendly at night. Plus, a climate that’s earned these islands a reputation as the Land of Eternal Spring, with temperatures averaging 64° to 77°F year-round. And that’s just the backdrop. On stage, you’ll find a culture that blends Spanish and African influences into a fusion of flavorful and colorful cuisines, customs, and activities for everyone: history lovers, art lovers, beach lovers, nature lovers, and wine lovers who will swoon over the islands’ famously improbable wines.

- Day 2San Sebastián de la Gomera, SpainThursday, Dec 11, 20259 am - 6 pm
Though you won’t find canaries here you will find people who can whistle like them. Whistled speech helped shepherds communicate across the steep ravines and in the lush cloud forest of Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Columbus paused here on all three voyages so you’re in good company as you explore historic San Sebastián, but with all the natural beauty around, you’ll find your gaze drawn inexorably up the terraced hillsides and across to views of Mount Teide.
- Day 3Santa Cruz de La Palma, SpainFriday, Dec 12, 20257 am - 6 pm
Santa Cruz de la Palma has a distinct Caribbean feel with its colorful houses and relaxed, casual feel. Walk along the cobblestone streets of this charming port that once was a connecting port on the route to the Americas. Learn about the town’s history at the Island Museum of La Palma located in a 16th century monastery and the Naval Museum housed in a full-sized reproduction of the Santa Maria. And see some of the 15 large telescopes along the ridge of Caldera del Taburieint National Park.
- Day 4At SeaSaturday, Dec 13, 2025
- Day 5Funchal, Madeira, PortugalSunday, Dec 14, 20251 pm - Overnight
Considered one of Portugal’s main tourist attractions and home of world-famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, Funchal is known for its style and beauty. Visit Cabo Girao, the highest sea cliff in Europe or take a trip to the Pica da Torre for an incredible view of Camara de Lobos, a delightful fishing village. With a long history of Madeira winemaking, there’ll be time here for a little wine tasting, a meal at one of the many 5-star restaurants, sightseeing to 15th century Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, shopping the bargains to be found here, or experiencing the vibrant night life. Or maybe you will embark on a Tobogan ride down the mountain, the way they used to transport the produce grown from the mountain to the village below!

- Day 8Lanzarote, Canary Islands / Arrecife, SpainWednesday, Dec 17, 20258 am - 10 pm
Lanzarote is synonymous with volcanoes, lava fields, rocks in impossible shapes, black and red earth that contrasts with the typical whitewashed houses, the deep blue sea and the light blue sky. Nature is the star on this small volcanic island. Enjoy the afternoon on the beach or follow the island’s famous wine trail, tasting as you go. This, the most northerly of the Canary Islands, welcomes you with laid-back hospitality and genuine warmth. This region of petrified lava makes up the National Park of Timanfaya and its Mountains of Fire, where visions of a lifeless, prehistoric earth, with enormous craters of an incandescent red color, can be seen on a bus or even a camel tour. Developed sustainably and in harmony with the surroundings, this unique atmosphere has made it a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of the most impressive natural parks in all of Spain.
- Day 9Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, SpainThursday, Dec 18, 20251 pm - 11 pm
Also known as the ‘miniature continent’, Gran Canaria is renowned for its marked contrasts. On a single day, we can enjoy marvelous beaches surrounded by dunes and climb peaks covered in Canary Island pine forests, with their greenery standing out starkly against the dark volcanic earth. Magnificent scenery surrounds you in the capital of Gran Canaria. Two lovely bays and their beautiful beaches frame the city. The Vegueta District, the older quarter of the town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its historical and cultural treasures, dating back to the city’s founding in 1478.
- Day 10Santa Cruz de Tenerife, SpainFriday, Dec 19, 20257 am - Overnight
Cap off your epic journey where it all began. Enjoy a day at the beach soaking in the sun and swimming in the emerald and turquoise waters, walk along one of the trails that venture into the lush forests, discover impressive volcanoes and awe-inspiring landscapes that are almost otherworldly, and striking ravines and cliffs. Spend an evening gazing at the endless stars in good company or make that dream of seeing dolphins and whales swimming in the wild a reality.

IMPORTANT: The European Union is introducing the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) sometime in mid-2025. ETIAS is designed as an entry requirement for visa-exempt nationals traveling from 60 countries, including the United States and Canada. This system is being implemented to enhance security and streamline the entry process for travelers visiting the European Union.
Starting mid-2025, if you are planning to visit one of the 30 EU countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period, you will be required to complete a digital application through the official ETIAS website or mobile application. This requirement will apply to travelers who do not currently need a visa for entry into these countries. While this might be an additional step in your travel preparations, it is designed to improve your overall experience by reducing waiting times and enhancing security measures. You can fill out your applications HERE once the ETIAS site goes live. Please be aware that most ETIAS applications will incur a processing fee of 7 Euros. It is free for people over the age of 70. These ETIAS are good for up to 3 years with unlimited entries.

Air Travel
Airports
You will need to fly into and out of either Tenerife North Airport (TFN) or Tenerife South Airport (TFS) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain for this vacation. Tenerife has 2 airport codes:
- Tenerife North (TFN)
- Tenerife North tends to be for traveling/connections within Spain and Portugal. Iberia flies here. It is about 25-30 minutes from the Ship/Hotel. (more convenient)
- Tenerife South (TFS)
- Tenerife South tends to be for international flights, originating outside of Spain or Portugal. United, for example, offers routes to TFS from Newark. It is at least 1 hour from the ship/hotel, but traffic can increase that time.
Windstar will offer transfers to purchase for both airports on the day of embarkation and disembarkation, so guests can choose either airport. But TFN (North) is a little more convenient due to its location.
When searching for flights, airlines may not recognize these airport codes (TFN or TFS). If they don’t, type in airport code “TCI”. This is a generic airport code for both airports in Tenerife. When finalizing your plans, make sure you note which airport you are flying into or out of.
We encourage all passengers to arrive a day early to avoid the stress of unexpected flight or luggage delays.
Airfare Specials
We are proud to partner with United Airlines. The United Airlines discount code: Z Code: ZPTZ and Agreement code:877055 are good for up to 10% off and applies to flights into and out of tenerife Reina Sofia Airport (TFS). Dates of travel are Dec 4, 2025 to Dec 26, 2025. Airfare can be booked no earlier than 11 months before the trip. This reservation can be completed by visiting united.com/meetings (enter the Meeting Code ZPTZ877055 in the Promotions and Certificates box). Or by calling the United Reservations Meetings Desk at (800) 426-1122 and providing the Z code and agreement code (a service fee will apply). You can also choose to book through your preferred travel agency and provide the discount program information. Discount level applicable based on 1st letter of published tariff fare purchased.
Flight Arrival and Departure Times
ARRIVAL: Please arrive to Tenerife North Airport (TFN) no later than 3 pm, or the alternate airport Tenerife South Airport (TFS) no later than 2 pm, on December 10, 2025 and make your way to the ship. All-aboard is 4:30 pm and we sail at 5 pm. All passengers MUST be on board no later than this time for sailing. We always recommend arriving on earlier flights or coming in a day early to avoid the stress of unexpected delays.
Embarkation and check-in on board will be available beginning at 1 pm.
DEPARTURE: The ship will arrive in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain on December 19, 2025 and overnight. Therefore, flights out of Tenerife North Airport (TFN) or Tenerife South Airport (TFS) can be at any time on December 20. Note that the best flights/connections depart TFN on December 20 at approximately 7 am and 8:55 am, with a few that depart later but would require an overnight in Madrid.
Luggage Allowance
While there is no luggage limit on the cruise itself, airlines often restrict (or charge) for excess baggage. Because each airline is different, and the regulations change over time, please check with your airline for baggage allowances.
