Wild Alaska Adventure
Aug 16, 2025 - Aug 21, 2025- Juneau
- Tracy Arm - Fjords Terror Wilderness
- Haines
- Icy Strait & Inian Islands
- Baranof or Chichagof Island
- Sitka
We are bringing you the best of Alaska with National Geographic and Lindblad!
Indulge your inner explorer on this compact, six-day/five-night expedition along the untamed coastal landscapes of Alaska’s Inside Passage. This pristine wilderness is home to a rich Tlingit culture, an enduring frontier spirit, and a panoply of wildlife—from high-flying eagles and tail-fluking whales to salmon-fishing bears. Hike through forests of towering trees, kayak in glacier-carved fjords, and raft from an ancient Alaska native village.
On this trip, we explore this pristine wilderness aboard our 62-passenger, nimble National Geographic Sea Bird expedition ship and set out in zodiacs for up-close encounters with glaciers and all sorts of birds and critters. Though you may have seen Alaska’s glaciers and wildlife from a distance on a large cruise, you will feel like you are in the middle of a National Geographic show on this smaller vessel, experiencing it up close. You’ll be watching icebergs float by and hear the thunderous roar, as well as feel the ripples of waves, after a glacial calving.
But there’s more! Onboard naturalists will educate us about wildlife as we watch for whales, killer whales; kayak or paddleboard along the rugged coast, search for bears and a variety of birds (including the bald eagle); hike through forests; capture beautiful orange, pink and purple lighting (and maybe a rainbow!) reflecting on the water and in the skies; breathe in the fresh, clean air and experience the peacefulness, privilege and gratitude of being surrounded by all of this precious wilderness. A National Geographic/Lindblad-trained photographer will be on board to help you capture these shots!
Activity Level
This trip requires a slightly higher level of mobility, including navigating steep stairs on the ship, walking on sandy, rocky or uneven terrain, hiking up gentle hills, and getting in and out of zodiacs/pangas from the ship and shore. There are no elevators on the ship. We will arrange activities for those who are very active, as well as for those with less mobility. If you do have limited mobility that requires assistance, you are required to travel with someone who can assist you. This trip is not suitable for scooters or wheelchairs.

If you would like to arrive a day or two early, there are two hotels on either side of JACC within easy walking distance. Ramada by Wyndham Juneau and Four Points by Sheraton Juneau are the most convenient hotels. Both are 3-star hotels, but the Sheraton gets a slightly higher rating on Trip Advisor. Great location for both. There is plenty to do in Juneau, such as visiting the Mendenhall Glacier, taking the tram to the top of Mount Roberts, taking a float plane or helicopter ride to see glaciers, and even just shopping. Viator.com and TripAdvisor.com are wonderful resources for Juneau tours.
